Topic
Legal professionals are trained to solve complex problems, analyze facts, and apply structured reasoning to reach sound conclusions. But when it comes to our own careers, we often lack the same level of strategic clarity and creativity. We follow conventional paths, meet external expectations, and make significant decisions without truly examining whether they align with our personal values, work philosophies, or long-term goals.
This session introduces a proactive and reflective approach to career planning through the lens of design thinking—a problem-solving methodology used in innovative industries worldwide, now increasingly applied to career development.
Rather than treating your career as a linear path or a one-time decision, design thinking encourages an iterative, exploratory mindset. It offers tools to help you clarify what matters to you professionally—your strengths, values, motivations, and definition of meaningful work—and then test different directions through low-risk experiments before committing to major changes.
This process is not about abandoning the legal profession (although in certain cases it can result in a career transition). It’s about understanding the full range of what a legal career can be, and equipping yourself with the tools to design it with purpose, logic, and self-awareness.
Whether you’re a law student considering your first steps or a seasoned professional reevaluating your direction, this session will offer a grounded, thoughtful approach to career strategy that respects the complexity of the legal profession and the individuality of each practitioner.
